Trust in the Lord

Updated: Dec 22, 2021

In the Scriptures, we are given just a little glimpse of Mary and Joseph before Jesus was born. We know that they lived a simple life in the hill country of Galilee. Joseph was a religious and just man, which means he obeyed the will of God. Imagine, though, his thoughts and his suspicions about the girl to whom he was engaged. Imagine what he was thinking when the same angel who appeared to Mary appeared to him.

What faith it must have taken on Joseph’s part to believe that message, to put away all suspicions, and to trust God.

God wants our trust today.

We must really trust God before we are willing to surrender everything to Him in worship. If we don’t trust God, then we are less likely to really let go and engage with Him spiritually.

As we humbly worship, we must completely trust Him, surrender our will to His, and open our hearts and minds to be transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The 23rd Psalm is an excellent example of the kind of trust we should have in the Lord.

· Scripture: Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup runs over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days of my life;

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
